Mustangs Fight the Good Fight but Fall to the Spartans

Our Redmond Varsity Mustangs valiantly exchanged blows against the Skyline Spartans tonight, but the Mustangs were not able to rally in the end, losing the battle 10-6.

#21 Vardaan Sangal started on the mound for the Mustangs and admirably went 4 and 1/3 innings, giving up 4 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, striking out 5 and walking none. #20 Nitzan Naveh came in for relief and pitched 1 inning, allowing 4 runs (2 earned), striking out one and walking 3. #7 Sean Laizans finished off on the mound and pitched 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing 2 unearned runs, striking out one and walking 2.

#6 Chase Lawson provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led the Mustangs with 2 RBI’s. #3 Hiroshi Johnson, #5 Josh Tyler, #8 Nolan Martin, #10 Roman Collins and #13 Isaiah McMahan each collected a hit for the Mustangs. #15 Cavin Bowmer led the Mustangs with 3 walks in the game. The defense was able to turn one double play in 7th inning when Laizans caught a bunt in the air with a runner at 1st base and was able to toss it over to McMahan for the DP.

The Mustangs will travel to Eastlake for their next game on Wednesday, 3/27, at 6pm where they take on the Wolves.
