Mustang Lose Early Lead to Elusive Cougars

Our Redmond Varsity Mustangs took the early lead in the 1st inning but could not herd the Bothell Cougars in a 5-1 loss.

The Mustangs took their 1st inning lead with an RBI from #6 Chase Lawson. The Cougars were able to take the lead in the 4th inning and never looked back.

#3 Hiroshi Johnson toed the mound for the Mustangs and went 4 innings, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits, striking out five and walking three. #7 Sean Laizans came in relief and pitched 2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, striking out three and walking one. #20 Nitzan Naveh pitched the last inning, giving up no runs and no hits, walking one.

Lawson led the Mustangs with one RBI while #12 Lance Burt and #10 Roman Collins each collected one hit for the Mustangs. #13 Isaiah McMahan paced the Mustangs with 3 walks. The Mustangs turned one triple play in the top of the 7th inning with bases loaded when #15 Cavin Bowmer caught a line drive for the 1st out, threw to Collins at 2nd base for the 2nd out who then threw to Lawson at home plate for the 3rd out. #17 Mathias Gendzwill ran crazy on the bases for the Mustangs with 2 stolen bases in the game.

Next game will be an away game at Woodinville on Monday, 4/1, where the Mustangs will take on the Falcons at 7:00pm
