Mustangs Battle but Lose to Knights in Later Innings

Our Redmond Varsity Mustangs lost to the Newport Knights Monday night by a score of 6-1. While the Mustangs were able to keep the score tied at ones through the 4th inning, the Knights were able to capitalize in the 5th inning with a couple of unfortunate errors in the field from the Stangs.

#6 Chase Lawson started the game for the Mustangs and gave up 2 hits and one run over 4 innings, striking out 4 batters and walking 6. #4 Owen Gore relieved Lawson and gave up 2 hits and 3 unearned runs. #20 Nitzan Naveh pitched the final inning allowing 1hit and 2 runs.

The only run for the Mustangs came from #11 Aidan Kim’s RBI single in the top of the 4th inning driving in #9 Brandon Dayberry from 2nd base. #17 Mathias Gendzwill, Lawson, Dayberry and Kim each collected one hit for the Mustangs.

Next game up for the Mustangs is a home game against Mount Si on Wednesday, 4/10, 6:00pm at Hartman Park.
