Mustangs win home-opener vs Juanita, 6-2

On their home-opening day, Tuesday, 3/14, at Les Dow Field, our Redmond Varsity Mustangs defeated Juanita, 6-2.

Even though Juanita opened up scoring in the first inning with 2 runs on a sac fly and a single, our Redmond Varsity Mustangs pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning.  In the third, #8 Andrew McBain doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring #11 Aidan Kim, an error scored one run for Redmond Varsity Mustangs, and #1 Ethan Tung singled on a 1-1 count bringing in #3 Jon Holmen for the third run.

Redmond Varsity Mustangs tacked on some insurance in the fifth inning by scoring three runs.  Redmond Varsity Mustangs batters contributing to the big inning included a single by McBain, an RBI double by #2 Dillon Hartman and a two RBI single by #6 Chase Lawson.

#7 Cameron Bradford led things off on the hill for Redmond Varsity Mustangs for 4 innings earning the win. Bradford surrendered two runs on four hits over four innings, striking out three and walking zero. #4 Zach Gunn and #23 Josh Roof came in for 2 innings and 1 inning respectively to close the door on Juanita. Gunn struck out four, walked zero and allowed one hit while Roof struck out two, walked two and allowed no hits.

McBain had the big bat for the Redmond Varsity Mustangs with two hits in four at bats.
