Mustang Comeback Falls Short

Redmond squared off with Roosevelt at Magnuson Park Thursday afternoon.

It looked as though Redmond’s offense would pick up where it left off when Andrew McBain started the game with a double to the left field fence. Unfortunately the Roosevelt starter was able to work through the rest of the inning and McBain was stranded on second base. The Stangs fell behind early as the Roughriders put up two runs in the first on senior starter Michael Kimborowicz. Those were the only runs Kimborowicz would allow as he looked sharp over his next three innings of work.

The offenses came alive late in the game as the Stangs scored their first run the in the 5th to draw within 1 run, 2-1. Roosevelt tagged reliever Josh Roof for two runs in the 5th and a another in the 6th and the Stangs trailed 5-1 entering the 7th. Redmond continued to battle as Liam Curran led off the inning with a double to left field and Holden Furutani legged out an infield hit. A single by Austin Paul scored Curran and the Mustangs trailed 5-2. Kai Drotz doubled to the left field corner and scoring both Furutani and Paul and Redmond had closed the gap to 5-4 with nobody out. Drotz was ultimately stranded on third base and the late game rally fell just short. The Stangs dropped a close one 5-4.

Redmond enters league play 1-1 when they take on Woodinville at 7:00 Monday evening March 21.
