Tips for tryouts

  • Baseball tryouts start at 3 p.m. on March 2 at RHS. Know where you need to go and be at the field early to sign in, introduce yourself, get organized, and help set up.
  • Wear a shirt with a number on it.
  • Wear appropriate gear for baseball. That means baseball pants, cleats, a hat, batting helmet, cup, and belt. Break in new shoes, gloves, and other equipment well in advance.
  • We don’t supply bats, helmets, gloves, catchers gear, or other personal equipment during tryouts. If you need something, talk to a returning player.
  • Double-check to make sure you’re registered for Spring sports and have paid any outstanding fees or fines.
  • Expect a fast-paced tryout each day.
  • If you need a place for your gear during tryouts, drop it off with a coach in the boy’s locker room at 7:15 a.m. each day; we’ll lock it up in storage. Just make sure you come back and retrieve your gear after school. It’s on you to get it to the field. We’ll make lockers available once practices begin.
  • Show your versatility. It always helps when players are willing to play multiple positions or take on different roles.
  • Have fun! We aren’t just looking for skilled baseball players. We want people who show a positive attitude, enthusiasm, passion, leadership, and who are great teammates. It’s more rare than you think.
