Before we can get the 2019 season underway, we have to take care of what’s underneath.
Please join us at the RHS baseball field for a work party on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. to prep the field for tryouts. We plan to clean fence toppers, replace/adjust privacy slats, pressure-wash dugouts, hang the backstop padding, clear debris, and more. We also want to remove snow from the Hartman cages.
It’s a great chance to see the reconditioned field, which officially opens on March 18 when the Mustangs take on Eastlake.
What to bring: Bring a bucket and rags or a bristle brush to clean fence toppers and tools to hack at shrubs and blackberries. We also need plastic snow shovels and wheelbarrows for snow-removal from the Hartman cages, and 8-foot or taller freestanding ladders for hanging nets at the RHS cages.
What to wear: Wear warm clothes, boots, and work gloves. Bring a change of dry clothes.
Parents: Sharon Curry will be at the scorer’s booth at Hartman Park at 10 a.m. (with coffee) for anyone who wants to learn how to run the scoreboard. It’s your first volunteer opportunity of the season!
