In Liberty's 8-5 win over the Mustangs on Wednesday night, the Patriots came out swinging. Before the Mustangs even had a chance to have the bats in their hands, they were down 4-0 thanks to some well placed Patriot hits and a 301 foot homerun.
At one point, Redmond was down 8-2, but they tried and tried to claw their way back in it. Juniors Darek Khabani and Dustin Lennon-Jones each singled in runs in the 5th inning to bring the score to 8-4. In the 6th, the Mustangs would have runnners on first and second with none out, but could not plate a run. In the 7th, they threatened again as Khabani came in to score once again. However, the threat was mitigated as the game ended on a strikeout.
Junior Spencer Uyematsu did all he could for the Mustangs as he had three hits on the night with two RBI. On the bump, Redmond threw four different arms: Darek Khabani, Wil Helland, Spencer Uyematsu, and Yui Suzuki. The latter pair each tossed one scoreless inning.
The loss brings the Mustangs to 1-1 in league and 3-4 overall. They travel to Bannerwood to play Sammamish on Monday at 4 pm.
