Mustangs Bounce Back Against Saints

Oh, what a senior night!!!

Senior Night at Hartman Park on Friday night was cause for celebration on more than one front as the Redmond Mustangs dropped the Interlake Saints, 12-3.

Redmond was able to strike early in this one, capitalizing on a leadoff single by senior David Gibons. Soon, it was 2nd and 3rd with one out in the inning. From there, courtesy runner Bradley Cagle scored on a passed ball and junior Wil Helland executed a squeeze play to drive in the second run. The Mustangs wouldn't look back from there, taking advantage of 7 hits and 9 walks to score 12 runs. Gibons led the charge offensively, going 3-4 with 2 RBI.

It was Gibons who also shouldered the pitching load. The Edmonds commit pitched four innings of no-hit ball, striking out 9. Seniors Andrew Hall, Drew Bies, and Daniel Jaffe combined to pitch the final three innings and secure the victory.

Monday sees the Mustangs host the Kentwood Conquerors in non-league action as a tune-up prior to Tuesday's playoff game against the Juanita Rebels. Monday's game is at Hartman at 6 pm while Tuesday is at Bannerwood at 7 pm. See you there!
