Mustangs Lose a Pitchers' Duel to Bothell 3-1

Dustin Lennon-Jones showed just how much of Bothell High School’s outfield he can cover in the sixth inning when he sprinted deep into the gap in left-center to track down a fly ball off the bat of Cougars catcher Josh Davis.

Unfortunately for Redmond, Lennon-Jones needed a little more real estate as the ball carried just beyond his leaping attempt at a catch and landed on the other side of the outfield fence.

The two-run home run capped the scoring as the Mustangs fell to Bothell 3-1, spoiling a solid effort by starter Ryan Rembisz.

The left-hander took the loss for Redmond, scattering five hits and three runs over five and two-thirds innings. He struck out five and allowed one walk.

Bothell starter Kassin Matson was just as effective and maybe a little more lucky. When the Mustang hitters did connect, they more often than not hit the ball right at a Cougar defender.

The Mustangs managed just four base hits, with the only run coming in the first inning when Darek Khabani scored on a wild pitch.

Redmond is now 6-6 in KingCo 4A and pushing for a spot in the playoffs. They come home to Hartman Park for five of the final six games of the regular season, starting on Monday at 6 p.m. against North Creek.
