Barison 5 1/3 of no hit baseball and Gibons with the 3 run bomb
Junior Connor Barison pitched 5 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball on Monday night at Hartman Park. The hard-throwing righthander was lifted in the 6th inning due to pitch count and reluctantly yielded to sophomore Landon Thompson. The young hurler did his part in shutting down the Liberty offense and keeping the no-hitter intact. The pair only allowed five baserunner on three walks and two HBP. The effort allowed the Mustangs to seize a 3-0 victory.
All the scoring came in the first inning on one swing of the bat. Senior Cameron Allen-Shipman laced a one out single to center which was followed by a walk to catcher Grant South. Then, on a 1-1 pitch, senior David Gibons drove a ball to deep left for a three run homerun. From there it was all zeroes for the Mustang offense, but three would be all they would need.
Redmond runs its league record to 6-3 and evened up the overall record to 7-7. The Mustangs are a 1/2 game up on Lake Washington for the third spot in KingCo 3A and two full games back of both Bellevue and Mercer Island. Next game is 7 pm on Wednesday at Bannerwood Park against the Sammamish Totems. Be there!
